What is An Chomhairle Chraiceáilte?
The number of Irish speakers is growing, but there is still a lack of speaking opportunities. That's why Cruthaigh was created - a programme to support the development of project pioneers and Irish businesses and interweaving them into the life of the community.
Do you want a change? Get in touch with us and we will provide you with a mentor to help set up an ambitious project through Irish.
You don't have an idea? No problem! We will support you in finding an idea that suits your interests and your area.
Féile na bhFéidearthachtaí
4 March - Dublin City Hall
At the Festival of Possibilities, big ideas meet the impact that is just around the corner. In recent months, 25 innovators from Dublin local authorities have been reimagining the Irish language as a growth engine for the county. From architects to engineers, from community builders to communicators, the possibilities are endless. The Irish language is ready to be at the heart of the next chapter in the story of Dublin.
Now, it's up to you. This is not just an exhibition – it's an opportunity to engage with our innovators, challenge their ideas and share your own vision of the future. Whether you are an Irish speaker or someone who is curious about the language, your voice is vital.
Success Story
TurasÓir
TurasÓir is a pioneering program that arose out of Lesley Cowper's participation in the Crazy Council in 2024.
TurasÓir focuses on creating a tourist experience that gives a real insight into Irish as a living language.
It encourages tourism businesses in Dublin to meet global interest in the language – from cultural initiatives such as Kneecap to the 5 million learners on Duolingo.
With the support of Dublin with Gaeilge and Gaeilge365, TurasÓir is emphasizing rooted language experiences instead of translation and symbolism.
It has been nominated for the LAMA Tourism Award 2024, recognizing its pioneering role in the development of tourism based on the Irish language.
