Todhchaí Gheal Ghaelach

Creating a growth engine for the Irish language through the Local Authorities

What is Todhchaí Gheal Ghaelach?

The number of Irish speakers is growing, but there is still a lack of speaking opportunities. That's why Cruthaigh was created - a programme to support the development of project pioneers and Irish businesses and interweaving them into the life of the community.

Success Story

Ellen Ní Bhróin & Saoirse Nic Cartháigh - Na Doirse Oscailte

The Open Doors is a brand new youth club created by Ellen Ní Bhroin and Saoirse Nic Cárthaigh in Tallaght for children 9-12 who have recently arrived in Ireland. Through fun and play, Irish is brought to life for them outside the school, creating a lively and welcoming space.

Within weeks of launch, there was a waiting list, with 13 children registered. The project aims to grow to five clubs by 2025, putting the Irish language at the heart of a new community in a pioneering way.
