North Dublin school wardens to welcome students back to schools in Irish language
Eight school wardens in Fingal are part of an initiative to promote the daily use of Irish in student life

The number of Irish speakers is growing, but there is still a lack of opportunities to use the language naturally in daily life. We see our local authorities as the link that fills that gap – creating practical spaces for Irish in every public service. Through the lens of language innovation, our objective is to create replicable models that can be scaled across the country, creating real opportunities for the community to use Irish naturally.

What would happen if we started looking at local authority services through the lens of innovation by asking a simple question - how can the impact of this service be increased through Irish? Our goal is clear - to use Irish as a tool for more innovative, inclusive, and vibrant services in local communities.

Eight school wardens in Fingal are part of an initiative to promote the daily use of Irish in student life
The programme is helping wardens build confidence in using Irish in their daily interactions with pupils, parents and guardians, creating opportunities for children and families to hear and use the language in everyday life.
Baz meets Éabha & Caoimhe De Burca, and their dad Barra; who took on the task of making himself fluent, so as to raise them immersed in the language.
